Douglas-Fir is technically not a true Fir (Abies genus), but is in its own genus: Pseudotsuga. The tree itself grows to be very large, and yields a large amount of usable lumber and veneer for plywood. It is an incredibly valuable commercial timber, widely used in construction and building purposes. Data for historical patterns of harvest, manufacturing efficiencies, and product use and disposal were used for estimating the accumulation of carbon in Oregon and Washington forest products from to Pools examined were long- and short-term structures, paper supplies, mulch, open dumps, and Cited by:

In the U.S., Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) naturally ranges from the Mexican border north to Alaska, and from the Pacific coast east to the Rocky Mountains. Often found in pure stands, Douglas fir can attain an average mature height of about ' and diameters from 10' to 17'.

The Douglas Fir is a stiff, stable wood, making it perfect for handling harsh weather conditions under considerable structural weight and pressure. "Old growth” Douglas Fir lumber is the finest grade of Douglas Fir available, with a clear vertical grain and very tight growth ring patterns, averaging 9 . Here are some other very good reasons to choose recycled lumber. All of our lumber is old growth lumber, sawn from some of the first forests to be harvested in the late 's and early part of the 's. A query of redwood mills up and down the California coast for dry, 7 grain per inch, clear heart 12x 12's yielded this response: "$

Someone contacted me about some beams he has in storage. They are 8"x8" and 8"x10" up to 32' long. He wants them out of the way and wants to trade the beams for some of the lumber milled from them and also for some other types of wood from our stock.

The first thing I need to know is the worth of the beams. He claims they are douglas fir. The relationship of lumber recovery to log quality in 29 old-growth Douglas-fir trees of the Oregon Coast RangeAuthor: John Bernard Grantham.

We assumed in this study that the Douglas-fir premium will remain at the recent level of percent. This percentage was used to Convert the projections of the all.
